Afghans Between Colonial Attempts and Holding on to Sovereignty: Exposing the Shame of the Arabs

Since the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Bagram Airbase, which was a symbol of the long occupation, the United States has from time to time tried to find pretexts to return once again to Afghan soil. Despite the statements of some Western politicians, most notably former U.S. President Donald Trump, which carried a condescending tone toward the Afghan people, Kabul’s response was clear: no return to colonialism and no submission to foreign dictates.

Rejection of Reopening Bagram Base

The Bagram base, once the main center of U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, has today become a symbol of regained sovereignty. The refusal of the Afghan government and people to allow its reactivation or to host foreign troops reflects their determination to safeguard national independence achieved through immense sacrifice.

Trump’s Speech and Persistent Arrogance

Trump’s recent remarks portrayed Afghanistan as a “weak party” that must bow to U.S. power—an old colonial rhetoric repackaged in modern style. Yet Afghans demonstrated political maturity and historical awareness, affirming that the era of guardianship is over and that relations with any state must be based on equality and mutual respect.

Western Media and the Agenda of Justification

Western media played a major role in justifying attempts to reassert control over Afghanistan. In recent months, it intensified campaigns focusing on women’s issues in Afghanistan, using this sensitive topic as a political and moral pressure tool. While women’s rights are important in any society, the exaggeration and selective focus revealed that the real aim was not humanitarian values but rather preparing grounds for military and political return.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian woman is not only attacked but is seen in pieces alongside her children—why do Western decision-makers not speak about her suffering?

Afghanistan After Liberation

Despite economic and political challenges, Afghanistan has taken tangible steps toward institution-building free of foreign interference. The people who resisted America’s longest war proved their resilience, and today they seek to shape their own path of development in line with national priorities and cultural identity.

Afghans have made it clear: sovereignty is a red line. The current scene shows their increased determination to protect it, and attempts to distort their image or impose guardianship no longer work. The bitter occupation experience has hardened collective consciousness, sending a clear message to the world: we are free in our decisions and our sovereignty, and there will be no return to colonialism under any guise.

Trump’s statements placed most Arab and Muslim leaders under scrutiny—especially when comparing those who chase after U.S. approval with those who bow only to the One God. Afghan leaders exposed the disgrace and shortcomings of Arab rulers, who, despite lacking strategic partnerships with America, are still viewed by Americans with arrogance—as a master looks down on his servant.

God will not bless them nor the wealth they squandered on America, offering it to Trump as a gift without return. While global Zionism used financial influence to elevate its status, Arabs wasted their wealth only to reap contempt, humiliation, and hatred.

Leaders who accept roles of humiliation and servitude to enemies are not wanted— their departure marks the beginning of strength, while their presence is disgrace and weakness.

We ask God to protect us from their evil and the evil of colonizers, as He wills.
